Review by hotel critic
Stepping into Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan felt like embarking on a journey through time, a fusion of history and luxury that captivated my senses from the moment I arrived. As a culinary critic and lover of authentic experiences, this 1300-year-old ryokan, nestled in the serene mountains of Hayakawa, held a special allure for me. The thoughtfully designed rooms, each equipped with modern comforts like a flat-screen TV and free WiFi, seamlessly blended with traditional elements, creating a harmonious ambiance. the highlight for me was the natural free-flowing hot spring bath water that graced every room, offering a truly immersive onsen experience unlike any other. Led by an award-winning chef, the locally sourced cuisine, including the exquisite A5 rank Koshu beef, surpassed all expectations. From the Asian breakfast to the unforgettable banquet dinners, each meal was a celebration of flavors that lingered long after the last bite. Despite our late arrival, they went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, even accommodating us for a private onsen session. the attention to detail, from the private dining room to the tranquil Japanese garden, elevated the experience to a realm of pure bliss. As the oldest hot spring ryokan in the world, Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan not only boasts a Guinness World Record but also embodies the timeless charm and elegance of traditional Japanese hospitality. With amenities like a sauna, karaoke room, and multiple hot springs to enjoy, this 5-star ryokan offers a sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation amidst the breathtaking beauty of Yamanashi. For travelers seeking a blend of history, luxury, and unparalleled dining experiences, this ryokan stands as a shining beacon of Japanese hospitality at its finest.
